I found several places where Georgia real estate agents/brokers can earn real estate CE credits free of charge. Some are online courses, most are live classes in the Metro Atlanta area and other Georgia cities. I know some might find it hard to believe but it’s true.
InterNACHI offers two free online real estate CE courses: a free 3-hour “Saving Home Energy for Real Estate Professionals Course” and a free 4-hour “Home Energy Efficiency for Real Estate Professionals Course”. These two courses are similar both in name and content. However, it should go without saying that there is more to read and study in the 4-hour course than the 3-hour course. It is easy to confuse the two courses. I recommend taking the 3-hour course first to get acclimated with the InterNACHI course management system. I will forewarn you that parts of both courses can get technical and detail-oriented. However, the good news is that student PDF handouts are very helpful for reference.
I was able to earn 7-hours CE credit from InterNACHI by taking both courses. These two courses were more difficult and challenging than most of the other real estate CE courses I’ve taken. Also, InterNACHI’s course management system isn’t very elegant. Their student PDF handout is functional but not very polished. And it takes 3 to 4 business days to have your CE credits posted to your transcript. However, it is hard to complain much when they provide 7-hours of CE credit free of charge!
Cathy McDaniel (owner of My C.E. Class) offers a large variety of free live, classroom real estate CE courses in the metro Atlanta area. Most of the courses she offers are ones you cannot find in any online CE school. Most of her classes are free but some have a nominal fee. They are well worth the cost. The main training center is in North Atlanta located in Peachtree Corners and the training center even has free Wi-Fi for students who bring their tablets or laptops. Of all the CE classes I have taken at various real estate CE schools, she provides the best, most informative handouts. They are great for reference long after the class is over.
Additionally, Cathy McDaniel also offers several “offsite” courses at various “new home communities” outside of the traditional metro Atlanta area. Some of her “offsite” courses have been in locations outside the metro Atlanta area such as Athens, Newnan, McDonough, Jonesboro, and Cumming.
Maximum One/Realty Partners is an independent brokerage that offers an impressive list of free CE courses. The CE classes are operated by Georgia Real Estate Academy. They have four primary locations for their CE classes: McDonough, Newnan, Conyers, and the Atlanta Airport area. I have not yet taken any of their CE classes but I have enrolled in a couple to try them out.
RegisterforREclasses.com is the central page for Georgia Real Estate Academy and jump-point to Maximum One‘s various calendars of free CE classes at their many franchise locations. Maximum One classes are located in the surrounding cities outside the Atlanta perimeter. When you click through the different city names, you will find some calendars that combine classes from nearby cities. So far, I have attended two classes in their Marietta and Alpharetta locations. They are well run classes with good facilities. I recommend them.
Georgia Realty School is affiliated with Virtual Properties Realty and offers an impressive calendar list and compiled list of free CE classes. Most of their CE classes are available to all agents regardless of brokerage. A casual review shows that the majority of these free CE classes are in Duluth.
American Real Estate University (AREU) offers a listing of free CE classes alongside their paid courses. There are several classes worth checking out. Most of the CE classes are held in a variety of locations on the outskirts of the Greater Atlanta area. However, there are a few that are more central or intown.
Live Gigantic Real Estate School is operated by Eric Keese, a Georgia licensee. He offers an eclectic list of CE classes taught throughout the outskirts of Metro Atlanta. Live Gigantic is a relatively new real estate school that is expanding its course offerings and locations.
Palmer House Properties (PHP), an independent brokerage, offers some free and paid CE classes in their main Buckhead office. I have not personally attended any of their classes yet. It isn’t because of lack of interest. It is because I don’t want to fight the nasty morning Atlanta rush hour traffic to drive to Buckhead.
Peter F. Porcelli Jr., author of “The Politically Incorrect Real Estate Agent Handbook” (a book I also own and recommend), offers free CE classes. Unlike most other real estate schools, he is the sole teacher of his CE classes. Peter uses his book as the basis of his CE classes. You don’t have to buy one in advance but you can if you prefer. He provides a copy to his students to use as reference during class. You have the option to just use it for that CE class or to buy it directly from him.
